Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to making this site usable for everyone, including people using assistive technology.

Miccass Physical Therapy is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities and people using assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control software, and keyboard-only navigation. This statement describes our conformance target, what we've done, and how to reach us if something on this site doesn't work for you.

Conformance target

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard referenced in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Section 504 rule and commonly used as the benchmark in ADA Title III accessibility matters. WCAG 2.1 AA covers, among other things: sufficient color contrast, full keyboard operability, descriptive text alternatives for images, properly labeled forms, and content that works with screen readers.

Measures we've taken

This site was built and then audited specifically against WCAG 2.1 AA before launch. That review included, among other things:

  • A skip-to-content link, visible keyboard focus indicators on every interactive element, and a logical tab order sitewide.
  • Descriptive alternative text on images, including staff photos (name and credentials) and treatment photos (what's happening in the photo, not just a filename).
  • Form fields with programmatically associated labels, required-field indicators in text, and correct autocomplete attributes.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation menus, mobile menu, and FAQ accordion, including proper focus handling when menus open and close.
  • Content that respects your operating system's "reduce motion" setting, and a visible control to pause any content that scrolls or animates continuously.
  • Text and background color combinations checked against WCAG's minimum contrast ratios.

We do not use an accessibility overlay, widget, or plug-in of any kind. Overlays do not make a site accessible on their own and can sometimes interfere with the assistive technology people already use, so every fix on this site is built directly into the page code.

Ongoing review

Accessibility is not a one-time fix. As we add or change pages, we review new content against the same WCAG 2.1 AA checklist, and we periodically re-test the site as browsers, assistive technology, and our own content continue to change.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, a few things on this site are outside our direct control:

  • Google Reviews widget (in the "What our patients say" section of our homepage): this is a third-party embed from Elfsight. We don't control its underlying code, so we can't guarantee it meets the same standard as the rest of this site. If it gives you trouble, our reviews are also visible directly on our Google Business Profile (opens in new tab).
  • Google Maps embed (on our Contact page and homepage): also a third-party embed. Our full address, phone number, and driving directions are always available in plain text nearby as an alternative.
  • Downloadable patient forms (on our Patient Resources page): these are Word documents (.doc/.docx), not scanned images, so their text is selectable, but we have not individually verified each one against document-accessibility (tagging) standards. If you need any of these forms in a different format, contact us using the information below and we will get it to you.
  • Mobile menu without JavaScript: our mobile navigation menu requires JavaScript to open. If your browser has JavaScript disabled, call or email us using the information below and we'll help you find what you're looking for.
