Shockwave Therapy in New York

Radial and focused acoustic waves stimulate healing in chronic tendons and fascia that have exhausted their natural repair capacity, the treatment of choice when everything else has plateaued.

When chronic tissue needs a wake-up call.

Shockwave therapy uses high-energy acoustic pressure waves to stimulate biological healing in chronic soft tissue conditions. Tendons and fascia that have been in a state of chronic degeneration, lacking blood supply and unable to remodel, respond to shockwave by initiating new blood vessel formation, stimulating collagen synthesis, and reactivating the repair process.

It is particularly powerful for calcific deposits: the acoustic waves break down the calcium and allow the body to reabsorb it. Most patients with conditions like calcific shoulder tendinitis or chronic plantar fasciitis, who have failed all other conservative care, experience significant improvement within 3 to 5 sessions.

Clinically proven for chronic tendinopathy and fascia conditions
Breaks down calcific deposits that do not respond to other treatment
Typically 3 to 5 sessions for most conditions
Moderate pressure sensation during treatment, generally well tolerated

Most effective for chronic tendon and fascia conditions.

If you have had pain for more than 3 months, tried multiple treatments, and are still not better, shockwave is worth discussing. It excels where other treatments plateau.

Target Tissue Identified

Your therapist locates the exact site of degeneration or calcification through palpation and movement testing. Accurate targeting is critical to shockwave effectiveness.

Acoustic Wave Application

A probe delivers controlled acoustic pulses to the target tissue for 5 to 10 minutes. You will feel a repetitive pressure sensation that ranges from mild to moderate. Most patients tolerate it well.

Progressive Treatment Course

Sessions are spaced 5 to 7 days apart to allow the biological response to develop. Most conditions require 3 to 5 sessions. You may feel soreness for 24 to 48 hours after each session, a sign the tissue is responding.

Resolution of chronic conditions that have not budged.

Shockwave therapy has strong evidence for conditions that have been resistant to other conservative treatments. Expect meaningful improvement within the treatment course.

Calcification Breakdown and Reabsorption

Acoustic energy directly breaks down calcium deposits, allowing the body to eliminate them and restore normal tendon structure.

Neovascularization

New blood vessel formation restores the blood supply chronic tendons lose, restarting the healing cascade.

Collagen Remodeling

Stimulation of fibroblast activity produces new, organized collagen to replace the degenerated tissue.

Long-Term Pain Reduction

Unlike corticosteroid injections, shockwave addresses the underlying pathology rather than suppressing the inflammatory response.

What our patients say.

“Excellent therapists, very helpful front desk. Cured my plantar fasciitis in a few weeks and working on a longtime ankle problem. Trust them implicitly.”
